Get Fit for Free

Losing weight and getting fit isn’t easy. To see any big changes, I have to change my lifestyle to see results and keep them. It’s hard, especially if you don’t have someone or something to hold you accountable. But I’ve started a 30 Day Fitness Challenge that always holds me accountable and keeps me motivated.

Keep Your New Year Resolutions!

About two years ago I found this group called The Daily Hiit (watch out for slow server speeds). They have daily workouts, 30 Day Challenges, and nutrition guides to help people get fit at little to no cost. Any workouts using equipment can be modified for anyone without the tools. The nutrition guides are inexpensive, but a lot of the info can be found on the blog. You can even stay accountable by joining the online community on Facebook to post your progress and read about other success stories. Basically, I have a trainer for free!

I just completed the first week of my first 30 Day Challenge, and I am sore! I’ve started to have cravings for my daily cookies, but I’m staying strong. I’m using this great app that CBS featured. It’s called My Fitness Pal, and it is amazing. It has the most accurate and detailed nutrition calculator I’ve seen on a health app yet. Not to mention it’s free! After adding all your food and exercise for the day, My Fitness Pal shows you what you will weight if you eat/exercise the same way every day. That’s what really keeps me motivated to stay under my calorie goal and keep exercising.

But my kryptonite is sugar. My diet doesn’t allow much sugar and I have to keep cookie urges at bay with nothing but spinach and free weights. What’s keeping me together is a healthy, low calorie smoothie I’ve been creating every morning. If you’re looking for something healthy and sweet, try a basic smoothie. My favorite smoothie so far: Banana Carrot Smoothie. Don’t dis the carrot til you try it! One carrot gives you almost all of your Vitamin A needs. Since it’s a  sweet veggie, it works in a smoothie. Don’t take my word for it, try it yourself!
